Allen C. Smith and Diane L. Janowski armed with two Leicas, one Minolta, one Nikkormat, one Canon, hundreds of rolls of Kodachrome 64 slide film, a Canon camcorder, and a Sharp minidisc recorder spent eleven separate weeks in Pointe Coupée Parish, Louisiana from September 2001 to the present getting to know and love the parish, and photographing about 8,000 images of the area at the turn of the 21st century.

Smith and Janowski are award-winning creative photographers. Both have an active and extensive history of involvement in their community and have co-authored the book Images of America: The Chemung Valley.
